Bendera Log Guns kian kini lumayan berkibar di kancah musik rock Tanah Air. Sambutan pasar terhadap album debut
mereka, ‘Hitsmaker’ (Logiss Records) yang dirilis pada akhir Januari 2008 lalu cukup hangat. Apalagi mereka telah menjadi salah satu band pembuka tur konser Skid Row di Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya dan Malang selama Maret 2008 lalu. Meskipun musik rock yang mereka geber terdapat balutan sound metal, mereka telah memiliki cara supaya musiknya bisa diterima oleh semua kalangan masyarakat.

Yakni dengan mengimbangi entakan dram dan kocokan gitar cadas yang banyak diusung di dalam lagu-lagunya dengan karakter vokal yang halus dan agak pop. “Kurang lebih konsepnya seperti Dream Theater,” ujar Andre,
gitaris sekaligus founder band ini menjelaskan. Meskipun band asal AS tersebut merupakan salah satu pengaruh terbesarnya, musik Log Guns tidak mengarah ke rock progresif pada umumnya. Melainkan mereka beusaha ingin
membuat karakter rocknya sendiri.

YNGWIE MALMSTEEN

“PERPETUAL FLAME”, ALBUM TERBARU YNGWIE MALMSTEEN

Mulai 14 Oktober 2008 mendatang, para penggemar setia Yngwie Malmsteen dipastikan sudah bisa mendengarkan album terbaru dari gitaris virtuoso asal Swedia tersebut. Album terbaru dalam tiga tahun terakhir yang dirilis oleh Rising Force Records dan diedarkan ke seluruh dunia lewat label Koch tersebut berjudul ‘Perpetual Flame’ dan merupakan album pertama Yngwie dengan vokalis barunya, Tim “Ripper” Owens, bekas vokalis Judas Priest dan Iced Earth.
Selain Yngwie dan Tim Owens, album berdurasi 70 menit yang antara lain memuat lagu berjudul ‘Death Dealer’, ‘Damnation Game’, ‘Four Horsemen (Of the Apocalypse)’, ‘Caprici Di Diablo’, ‘Eleventh Hour’ dan ‘Heavy Heart’ ini juga diperkuat oleh bekas kibordis Dream Theater, Derek Sherinian serta dramer Patrick Johansson. Saat rekaman, porsi bas dimainkan oleh Yngwie sendiri. Tapi untuk tur konser yang bakal berlangsung di Amerika dan Kanada, Oktober nanti, Yngwie bakal membawa band dengan formasi yang berbeda. Posisi Derek digantikan Michael Troy, sementara untuk bas bakal diisi oleh Bjorn Englen.
Sehari sebelum perilisan ‘Perpetual Flame’, nama Yngwie sendiri juga bakal diabadikan di “Rock Walk” di Los Angeles, AS. Tidak lama sesudahnya, tepatnya pada 28 November, pabrikan gitar Fender juga akan meluncurkan gitar custom terbaru Yngwie Malmsteen yang bakal diproduksi terbatas, hanya 100 buah. Rencana lainnya, beberapa album klasik Yngwie juga rencananya akan dirilis ulang dengan kualitas suara remastered. (*)
